6507 "Young Men to the Rescue" c. 1862
Union Recruiting Broadside "Young Men to the Rescue." Beautifully printed on "green paper" with a vignette of an American eagle and large woodblock letters. This is a large recruiting broadside published in Plymouth, Massachusetts, July 15, 1862, offering bounties from the Federal government, the town of Plymouth and an extra bounty if they stay in till the close of the war, plus an extra $2 to any person who brings in a fellow volunteer! This is an especially interesting broadside in that it is from Plymouth where the Pilgrims landed two and a half centuries earlier and first colonized American. It is a graphically beautiful broadside and very exhibitable, "Young Men to the Rescue".
