7444 Blackfeet Parfleche Cylinder c. 1850 An extremely rare Blackfeet Cylinder overpainted in the Pueblo style contemporary to the construction of the artifact. In a conversation with Gaylord Torrence of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, he felt that the insects on the cylinder itself, painted with red eyes, as well as on the belt, were brass tacks used to denote the eyes which was not common and would identify the insect as a dragonfly. The construction of the cylinder is buffalo hide. He thought the item was quite rare and a very fine example from the warring period. 35,000.00 |
