SF1715 Crow Trade Cloth War Shirt Crow Trade Cloth War Shirt c. 19th century Indigo dyed wool trade cloth with open sides trimmed in a red binding. Inset into the yoke is a red wool triangle with two beaded bands of pumpkin, cobalt and aquamarine and trimmed at the top in a dark calico cloth. Same on verso. Red ochre rubbed hide strips run down the front and sleeves and are beaded in a turquois background with bars of cobalt, pumpkin, white and red, with long hide fringe, ermine drops and red feathers completing the decoration of the shirt. The cuffs and bottom of the shirt are cut into tabs. From the Carlisle Indian School; 26" high, 58" wide cuff to cuff. $105,000.00 |
