8317 Kachina (Poli-Mana) A wonderful 19th century kachina known as the Volz Collection. Volz was born in Germany in 1856 & immigrated to the US in 1876. In 1892 he was living in Arizona at Canyon Diablo near First Mesa as a trader merchant and postmaster and collected katchinas from the Hopis. Very little is known about Volz, except he was a trader on the Hopi and Navajo reservations from 1897 to 1910. His dolls had a particular style.
